As Salmon-Safe gears up for further expansion across the interior Columbia Basin, Michelle McGrath is joining the team as program director. Michelle’s priority at Salmon-Safe will be to lead the rollout of our $6.3M EPA grant focused on reducing water quality impacts in the Basin. Prior to starting at Salmon-Safe, Michelle most recently was CEO of the American Cider Association. Throughout her career, Michelle has been a champion for farmers, value-added producers, food system sustainability, and environmental conservation. Her former work in this arena includes supporting farmers in the Columbia River Gorge with Gorge Grown Food Network.
At Salmon-Safe, Michelle will be collaborating with partner organizations to implement water quality and climate resiliency improvements that expand the scope and geographic reach of Salmon-Safe’s longstanding work. Based at Salmon-Safe’s Portland HQ, Michelle will work in tandem with our Boise, Walla Walla and Spokane-based outreach team, and implementation partners across the region.
Michelle starts with Salmon-Safe on Jan 1, 2025.
