Leading Northwest and national brewers are sourcing Salmon-Safe hops and certified eastern Oregon barley malt and that is building new momentum for ecologically sustainable farming practices in Northwest wild salmon watersheds like Yakima and the Willamette Valley. With more than 80 percent of US hops sourced from these two watersheds, choosing Salmon-Safe beer makes a direct contribution to restoring important waterways and native fish.
Introducing Salmon-Safe Malt
With respect to malt, Salmon-Safe is partnering with Walla Walla, Washington, based Mainstem Malt to help transition a growing number of environmentally innovative grain growers in the interior Columbia Basin to certified barley malt. We’re also pleased to announce new partnerships with Skagit Valley Malting and Coldstream Malt to further transition western Washington and inland Northwest grain growers to certified malt.
